At Expedia Group (EG), I was a Commercial/Sales Intern. However due to the fast pace of my 2 month internship, I worked on a extensive research project looking into how the airline industry is interacting with sustainability and working towards achieving Net Zero. Throughout the course of my internship I conducted a market analysis, made an airline sustainability initiatives database of EG's top 100 grossing airline partners. presented my findings, and created a comprehensive document detailing ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) and airlines for all of EG's airline account managers.
What I Worked On
Market Analysis
I conducted a market analysis that delved into booking flows of various airlines and travel companies, focusing on sustainability and environmental markers such as Carbon Emission notifications or Offset participation. Through this research, I created three separate booking flow groups and evaluated their effectiveness based on customer funneling and engagement principles.
Sustainability and Impact Risk
I conducted research on over 50 airlines that conduct business with Expedia Group on their sustainability commitments and initiatives to inform Account Managers on potential business risks such as greenwashing scandals and airline commitment to ESG issues.
Customer Trends
Periodically during my internship, I was tasked with evaluating customer flight data focused on ticket purchases and asked to present insights to my manager. I analyzed trends in ticket purchases including flight origin, destination, airline carrier, and booking window. This improved my public speaking and data analytics skills.
